What If Everything Is Falling Together with Teri Karjala
This is Tim Salmans with Powerful and Unpolished. I'm your host. we have another... I am really excited about this guest today. she's a friend, she's a colleague, she's a savant on so many levels that I just really appreciate who she is, and I'm so grateful that she's joining us today. So I'm gonna...
Here's her bio, and I'm just gonna give you a quick little brief bio on her. So today's guest is Teri Karjala. Teri is a business success therapist with Talking with Teri, a best-selling author of the book Be the Magic of You: Tools to Transform Your Life, and the forward was written by Jack Canfield.
She has been featured on national television, is a regular guest on various local TV stations in Colorado. She is a coach with Forbes and has launched Colorado's first transformational talk show, Talking with Teri TV, featuring The Entrepreneur Girlfriend Hour, a live in-studio experience syndicated on over 150 channels, right?
So we got that going on. And then wait for it, there's still more. Teri is a thought leader in female empowerment and entrepreneurship. She has combined her 28 years of counseling background with energy psychology and applied the principles of quantum physics to transform people's lives by clearing the unconscious blocks that hold us back.
Now, in the real world, Teri is a adrenaline junkie and an adventurista, including jumping out of planes, self-taught doodler, wannabe backup dancer, and she's pretty sure that she was a mermaid in a past life. She comes with her own warning label, "Caution: may contain excessive energy." Welcome to the show today, Teri.
Hey, hey, I'm excited to be here. Thank you for having me. Oh, this is awesome. This is great. I'm looking forward to this. and as you know for those folks who have, have listened to the show before, this show hais sponsored by Insights for Choice. It actually hosts and, and puts on Powerful and Unpolished so that we actually can hold space For those who are open to growing themselves, their personal development, expanding into new possibilities.
So we just hold that space for personal growth, and that's why Teri's gonna be a, a, a wonderful guest today. and that's what I love about this show, Teri, just so you know. I mean, I've had ex-fighter pilots on here. I love it. I've had stuntpr- professional stunt show, stuntmen, just a variety of different souls.
So you're, you're, you're, you're cream of the crop here, my friend. I love it. I love it. Let's go. Let's do it. Okay, so I'm gonna kick this off. Let's get a little bit of... Tell us a quick backstory about, about Teri, who Teri is. Yeah, so I, let's see, goodness, started this journey, I feel like my journey started really in high school because I became a peer counselor and that, that changed the trajectory of me.
And so it was funny 'cause, like back in the day, I wanted to be a undercover cop or a, a cosmetologist. But if those two had a baby, you would have a therapist, right? you know a person that loves talking to people, and then you have the person that likes to undercover and figure out, like what's going on.
So, after I graduated with my undergrad, I went on to my master's program into counseling, so built a very successful, large mental health counseling practice. From there, I started combining my energy psychology with quantum physics and then, leveraging that with quantum physics to help us, as entrepreneurs and business owners over on the Talking With Teri site.
So now I do two parts of my company. I have my one-on-one coaching with, is clearing the blocks that helhold people back, and then I teach them energetic tools. Everything's under two minutes. Most, is under 30 seconds. And then on the business media side, we have, VIP days where we help people collapse time by teaching them how to speak in front of people so that they can, work smarter, not harder.
And then also the media siside where we have live studio, show, and then we also do business spotlights. So we highlight companies doing the amazing work that they're doing so that they have a platform to, support themselves and, you know in my opinion, helping, raise the collective consciousness on this planet.
Yes. You say raise the collective consciousness, and collective consciousness in the last few years has been iinteresting struggle for a lot of people. Oh, yes. Inteit's intense. I mean, what a gift that we get to live in this day and age. like if you're here on this planet with a body, you are meant to do something really extraordinary.
Ththis is not an easy journey for anyone, including myself, and, I just, I see a lot of people going through a lot of changes, a lot of mental changes, a lot of, you know trials and tribulations. And, I know that we will get out of this, and so it's just, you know making people realize going in and, and working from this day-to-day kind of mentality of like let's just get through today.
Let's find the gifts. Let's be in a place of gratitude, and like okay, next day, please, right? It's intense. It's intense. I joked that, I joked that, like the planet, since... In, in 2019 is when the energy started shreally shifting. It started in 2011, and if you were asleep, you didn't really notinotice it until like 2019.
And if you didn't feel it in 2019, for sure 2020, you know took care of the rest. And so it feels like the planet has been like placed upside down, wedged, and like it's been intense energy. So, we're coming out of it. It's just, it's gonna take a, a couple more years before we get fully out of it. Having that awareness, I mean, you talk about quantum, you know physics.
You talk about this relatedness on the planet level. how do we make that... 'Cause I, I'm, I'm right there with you. I mean, everything in this universe, in our bodies, in this life is an energy exchange. We are energy exchange100% human ... creatures, right? And when we work with people, we, we pick up their energy.
We also give them energy. They take energy. We take energy, all that kind of experience. And a lot of times people get stuck in their head because it's logical. Gotta be logical, you know. They wanna do the Spock experience, right? Yes. And there's nothing wrong with having logic, but it amazes me when people go to the logic justification.
It, it's not broad logic. It, it's, it's very fpinpoint. Yeah. WellWhat are your thoughts? ... in all fairness, we have been trained and ingrained, and especially as entrepreneurs, as business folks, we have been trained and ingrained to do things a certain way. And as people are kiare, are waking up to their infinite gifts and their infinite knowing, people are starting to question the way that we've been doing things.
And I'm gonna totally throw, fall on my sword for a second here. Back in the day, I had... So I came from the Midwest, and so I was ingrained and trained to be a hard worker, you know? I will be the first into the office, the last to leave. like I was just super, like work ethic was, like in every single fiber of my being, right?
And that was the ththe, the process in which I grew my company, my first company, and it's like okay, I, I expected other people to be the same, right? And along my journey, especially around in 2020... Probably 2022 is when we started noticing the big shift from a, from an employment perspective. And, I will throw myself down here as far as, we had a lot of these millennials coming in, and they were kinda bucking the system, right?
'Cause before, you know we'd have long-term employment, and we had people here that were here for tyou know in my company 10 years, 11 years, 12 years. And then I had some of these younger kids coming in and bucking the system. And so it's interesting. My neighbor has, she said, you know "Right now currently," you know what, do, do you know how many years it is considered long-term employment right now based on the corporate America model?
Three. Yeah, you're right. It's, it's 18 months. So for twoI was guessing ... yeah. Yeah. So it's eiwell, it's 18 months is considered, considered long-term employment. And I was like "What?" That's crazy. But for me, I was like wait, you know you, you're committed to this place, blah, blah, blah. And what it, what, these folks taught me was you know things are changing.
Things are shifting. We are now in a different angle, and so one of the gifts that I'm learning is, A, we don't have to do the hustle muscle as much. We can allow in this other energy, this other way of seeing things and doing things. And, and so that really shifted, for me, this whole perspective. And now what it's, what it's doing for me is like how do we work smarter, not harder?
How do we, because we, we, you know fI, for a lot of people that were growing up in, you know my generation, it's like you, you know you work a 40-hour week, week. Or in entrepreneur world, you know if you're working 40 or 50 or 60 hours, right? That was just, like the norm. But now it's like okay, how do we leverage our time and energy in a different way that's more effective so we can spend more time with our family, our friends, our, you know?
And so that is the kbiggest change I've seen and witnessed, which is really pretty powerful, and I'm super excited to be a part of that transition into a different reality of like no, let's make a focus of the energetic. So what I'm noticing now is this, this, this huge piece about the spirituality, right, coming out and, like how are we tapping back into and doing less, but being really intentional with where we're standing and where, what are we creating?
And so I think there's just a different way of doing it now, and I'm excited. I'm, I'm seeing it all over the place, you know with, with people, with, with businesses and finding an easier way to do things so that we don't have to flex the hustle muscle as much as we used to. I think it, I think it's, it, what you're saying is so apropos and, and needs to be not only stated as it is today with what you're saying, but needs to continue to be stated 'cause I think there are a lot of people out there, though, that are still lagging behind, that are caught in the vortex between the, the growth and the discovery for themselves.
like they might see it in other people, but it's like I think we're coming into this space to, to add to what you're sharing, is we have a lot of people who are accomplishing stuff, but they're really sensing an unfulfillment. They're sensing a disconnect, and so it's that aspect of, you know as we change our, our social patterns, as we change our business acumenAnd I think, well, here's what I know is that people are waking up and it's wapeople are waking up at their own paces, and I truly believe that people will wake up to their infinite gifts when they're ready and when it's in divine alignment, and not before then.
And so it's already happening and people, are starting to slow down in a way, and I love it because we're taking more time for that awareness. And so for anyone who's on the fence, I'm just, I'm letting you know that it's not always, like the easiest transition. However, there's some things that you can do in the transition to make it easier on yourself, and one of the things is, you know literally just taking some time, just taking a moment.
Go sit out in nature. I love taking my fmy shoes off, sitting out in the grass, like in nature and just, like putting your hand on your heart And closing your eyes and just asking, you know and, and this is a question, so just make sure that you're not driving when you're doing this, is, you know "My body, what is it that you're trying to tell me that I'm refusing to hear?"
And wait for it. And you mmay have an awareness right then and there. You might hear words. You might hear a phrase. And don't get dfrustrated if you don't hear anything immediately. You might hear it, sense it, just know it. you may have to ask it mmore than once. The other thing that you can do is just asking it before you go to bed because once you go into that dream state, you know you'll, you'll, you'll receive the information.
So asking that question and just starting to play with getting that awareness, and that awareness will help, you know lead you onto a different path. And just being kind and gentle to ourselves because I think we're so hard on ourselves of like "Oh, my gosh, I can't..." And so the more that we go into that snegative spiral of like "Ugh, ugh, ugh," it reinforces that piece of it.
And just instead of just being in a place of allowance and just being in a place of, "Okay, I'm open to receiving now, and what does that look like?" You may have a conversation. You might, you know be walking down the street and have this intinteresting exchange with somebody, and it's like "Whoa, oh, cool," right?
And start experiencing and playing with, you know the things that are starting to show up in your life. But if we can just let go of the rigidity, okay, and I know that's, that's easier said than done, but being in a place of allowance. Because that, because we've been trso entrained and ingrained to do it one certain way, and we...
If you think about it and look at it, it's pretty rigid, right? It's like "Okay, I have these goals, and if I don't hit these goals, then I am bad and wrong, and if I need to pound the pavement and do da." And fversus, you know being in a place of just like "Okay, how can I just sit with this and just be in a place of receiving?"
And whether that's wthrough meditation, that's through walking. another big tool is, like going and finding things that bring you joy, right? Let joy be your indicator. So go and do something. If you love doing crafting, go spend some time in crafting, and then before, during, or after, ask that question, right?
'Cause now we've activated another part of our brain, another part of our being, and we can access that information way easier if we're in a state of joy and high vibration. And I wanna, I wanna highlight something 'cause I think you're, you're hitting on some really key element, and I'm gonna maybe add a little translation.
Yeah. Is what I love is you're talking about being fluid with the experience. You're talking about inviting it in aand sitting with it. And part of the waking up that I think happens to a lot of people is I know some people who wake up and they're ready to go, right? They're like... That's a few. you know I know more people who wake up, it's a sense of groggy.
It's a sense of well, you know alet me acclimate to the, to today, to where my body to... Right? And so it's having that awareness thatYou are possibly in this phase of waking up for yourself, and it may be a groggy sense. So give yourself that time and space to be fluid and flexible. like that's why I think improvisation from performing on stage has always been one of the best things, is the first rule of improvisation is yes, and.
This is what I've been given. What am I gonna do with it? Rather than yyes, no, I don't want this. I, you know push back, right? Yeah, what we resist persists. So if I've learned anything in any place and space, is how do we respond versus react? And I have found leading with humor has been my best medicine, because I am the first to laugh at myself.
I am the first to be like "Oh, my goodness." And I, I joke a lot about, you know when we're going through difficult times, that you're gonna find me, like rocking and being like "Oh, my gosh. Once I get out of this, it's gonna make great content. It's gonna make great content." but I'm like "What else do I have?"
like I'm like you know I'm just gonna, like cry through the pain here. because I, I'll be tI'll be totally transparent with people. like a, a few years ago, I went through, like what I call the dark night of the soul. It was not an easy journey. so much so that I don't even wanna speak life into it, 'cause it was so brutal, but I think some of your listeners could probably relate to some of this.
And I'm giving it a metaphor, and I have to, like repeat that, that it is a metaphor, because people are like "Ugh," gasping when I tell them this. So it is a metaphor. It was like I was, I was out, you know minding my own business, and a shark came out. I was out in the ocean, minding my own business, and a shark came up and tried to attack me, and I just punched it in the face.
I'm like "Not today, shark. I got bigger things to do." So then I was like "I better get to the shallow end." So I get to the shallow end. I'm pretty certain I was wearing a chunky necklace, because a crocodile came up and death thrashed me down. I am short, but I am scrappy, and I fought off the crocodile, and I'm like "Not today, crocodile.
I got bigger things to do." So I step out onto the beachy area, and I'm like "Hoo, man. you know what? That was very traumatic. Let me just take a beat," you know? And as I'm taking a, quote, "beat," I look down, and I'm standing in quicksand. And this quicksand now, I'm like have to get big. I, I somehow survive the quicksand.
I get out, I dust myself off, and then I'm looking out to the horizon, and it's gorgeous. It's amazing. And it's like "Ha," and I'm like "Yes." So I run out into the zinto the street, and I get hit by a Mack truck. I'm pretty certain I break every bone in my body, and now I'm in a wheelchair, minding my own business, reeling down the road.
And without even knowing it, there's a steamroller, sflattens me flat as a pancake. But if you ever watched the movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, over in Toontown, he gets flattened by a, a steamroller, and he goes up and blows himself back up. So I, identify... I mean, I'm 5'2" in real life, but I identify as 5'7", so I just blew myself up like that.
And there was a couple little, you know pricks, no pun intended, and I just put some superglue on those things. but then at some point, I came back into my body, okay? And we survived it, and I'm like "Okay, God, spirit, angels, universe," like "Okay, obviously I was spared. Okay, so obviously you got bigger things for me."
And being in the patience, the place of patience of just receiving and allowing, and that does not been an easy journey at all. And being able to receive and be in this place of like you know what? I cannot, A, control anything besides the way I can show up, right? And how do I respond versus react to the situation that Ithat's unfolding for me.
And I think before, the condition that I experienced was I wanted to control everything and I wanted to put everything in these cute little boxes with little bows on them, and then finish the project, right? And get it done as fast as I could. Versus being in like being in the place of the journey longer and stronger of being like you know what?
Let me appreciate the journey more than, more so than just the destination. because I think we've become so destination-focused of just how do we get there further faster. And then once we get to the destination, we get the little, "Hoorah, we made it." Then we forget to celebrate 'cause we're like "Okay, onto the next.
What's the next? What's the next?" We need to get that next hit of dopamine to get onto the next reward center, right? like and it's now it's like okay, let's rework this and be like let's be more open in the moment of the unfolding of everything. And so one of the things that I will often say is, you know Instead of looking at it as it's falling apart, what if this is falling together?
I just don't-- I'm not there to have 20/20 vision yet. So what if all these like you know like the Tetris pieces are all falling together, and pretty soon it's gonna make something that I couldn't have even imagined it looking like right? I just love what you bring. This is a distinction for our listeners, okay?
So and this is a, a very powerful distinction. It's something that we, we are oftentimes are very unaware of. As Teri was talking about her metaphor and, and processing through the metaphor, going through this experience and then the next experience and the next experience, you know you can almost see she was asking the question of why?
Why? But how she was asking the question is the, the curiosity. She was asking from curious. Why, wha-what am I gonna learn from this? Why am I here? What, what's next? What, you know the-- there was a why to that. I, I highlight that because that's what keeps you bringing things together. You're, you know that something's coming together you're not trying to control or manipulate, right?
Oftentimes there's other people who are in the why conversation, and it's the whole opposite side. It's an energetic sort of victim of why is this happening to me? Why am I dealing with this? Why, you know why now? And it's like and it's like what if, what if the why was like what Teri was doing, you know?
When we ask the question of why am I here, why am I going through this? I always offer this to people. What is it trying to teach you? Because then you're curious. Yeah. you know and again, like I will admit that I've been in that why where I'm like in the victimhood, you know early on where I was like "Ah!"
Right? And, umSo am I, yeah ... and then it's like and I'm, I'm-- I, I, I joke with everyone that I'm like I have like a four year old brain because I'm, I'm very curious, and so I'm always asking, like I love seeing how things are done and da, da, da, and I'm always asking the question why. But it's from a place of curiosity and it's, and, and, and when we can get to a place of curiosity, curiosity's the only emotion that activates the whole brain, which is powerful.
And so we can get into a place of curiosity of like "you know what? I don't know, but I just trust in the process." And this too, for me, has built my faith even stronger within of like you know trusting in whatever your belief system is and a higher power of whatever that might be for you, and, just trusting in the unknown.
And, and there's a quote, and I'm gonna read it 'cause it's, it's right here on my desk It is one of my favorite quotes, and it's, it's by Edward Teller, and he says, "When you get to the nwhen you get to the end of the light that you know and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen.
Either you're given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly." And so that is something that I have guided my life around is like you know what? I don't know what that next step is. And, if you've ever watched that movie, I think it was called, Upward. It's like the cartoon, I think it's Pixar maybe, called Up.
And if you Google this, you can look it up on YouTube, and there's a place where he's crossing the bridge. And the bridge, he has, there, you can't see the bridge until he has faith and, like walking out, and you, you know it's pretty profound. And so he's like "Oh, if I just have faith, right, I, I can, I can cross this bridge."
And the bridge is invisible, right? And at some point, he's tied onto this harness, so he has, quote, his safety net. But at some point, and I'm gonna ruin this for all the listeners, so sorry, but at some point, his... And then he starts to get confident, right? He's like "Oh, I'm..." It's just a great metaphor. He gets really confident.
Well, the, the harness or the, the rope becomes loose and eventually the lit, it, it pulls away from him. So he actually has no harness, nothing. No, no net, right? And so his friends are like "Okay, just keep going. You're doing great, you're doing great." And then because he knows that if he loses faith in him, he's dying, right?
And so he gets to the very end, and he's able to... And then he looks down, and he realizes, and he loses the faith, and he's like he falls. But thankfully he, he's to the point, and so he survives, right? But it's powerful because it's like you know just being in that place of trust and faith of like no matter what, universe, God, spirit, angels has got me.
That's been my biggest life lesson in all of this, is just trusting the unseen forces around me of like "Okay, I got this." like I'm not sure how or what or why, but I'm just trusting in that and, and, and stepping into it with total faith and, and just trusting in the process. Yeah. And trusting in everything around you.
And also I wanna say also, I relate to faith as self-trust, right? That faithat inner faith as well. It's like trusting yourself that you've always been held in respect and guidance. I meanAnd it's a powerful place to be in, to be like okay, I'm... And, and even if I make a mistake, I'm just gonna trust that this was showing up for me and not to me.
Going back to your point is, you know when we can see things are happening for me, not to me, it git changes the game. And I was just having this conversation yesterday with this, with this person, and I said, "Well, how I hire people is very unique. it's a very unique process for me." And, I was sharing with them, I said, "Yeah," I said, "I always energetically test things and people around me and blah, blah, blah."
And so I said, one time I said thand I said, "Just because you test it doesn't mean it's gonna be the outcome in which you thought you were gonna have." And so he's like "What do you mean?" I said, "Well, I... One time I, I energetically tested this woman. She came and worked for me." when I was at the counseling practice, and I got a yes that she was, you know yes to come in, yes for now, blah, blah, blah.
So I hired her. She was with me for three months, and then all of a sudden I had to fire her. And I'm like "Why did I get a yes if I'm just gonna fire her," right? But here's the deal. I never-- I-- So I had, I had fired, you know admin people before in my company, but I'd never fired a therapist. A therapist comes with a caseload, and so how do you navigate that?
I had no systems in place. I had no, you know ways of, like managing that, and how do we do it in an ethical way? And so I was like oh my gosh. Even though I hired her and it was a yes, then I had to fire her and I was like "Ugh," right? But I realized the gift in it was like oh, she helped me see a loose link that I had, a weakness within my company that I had to address.
And so then it's like okay, now I have this-- I've created this system, and I've created this structure, so now we've, you know... And then, and then it was like "Okay, thank you," right? But it's a very, a very different way of seeing it than being like "Oh my gosh, I just invested all this money, time, and energy training person, blah, blah, blah, and now they're gonna-- Now I have to let them go because they're not perfblah," right?
Very different energy, and it's coming from that place of like oh, okay, this is showing up for me, not to me. Thank you for the gifts. Thank you for the lessons. Thank you for the, activations, and thank you for the evolution, right? The evolution of my company, the evolution of me. All of it was a such a gift, and I wouldn't have experienced that had I not looked at it in that way.
you know what I'm saying? And that's the practice. I mean, like so what you're saying is it's like you were open and curious, and you hired this person, and then you could have easily gone into the, the victim syou know mindset of why, why did, why didn't this work? Why... You know? And then you, you actually pryour practice or your skill was, "Well, wait a minute."
this taught me something. What did, you know like you really looked for what the growth was, right? 'Cause, you know as we highlight, you know this, I know this, but as we highlight, you know for our listeners who actually know this too, discomfort is a part of growth. I mean, if we're constantly in a comfortable state, we're not really growing.
Eexactly. We, as humans, we are here to evolve, grow and expand, and there's, you know we can try to stay in that, you know comfort zone and try, but I don't... And my girlfriend and I always ask this question, like "If we just don't do anything in life, will we uwill we still get to our destination?" And I'm like "I don't know.
That's a very esoteric question." But I said, but I said, "I just trust that as a, as a, as a species, as a, as a human culture, like we, you know we are here to evolve and grow and expand," and I don't know that we could ever just stay stuck in this... I mean, I suppose we can stay stuck in a victim mentality, but there was something that would have to happen, and I've seen it so many times, even with people that have been in the, you know victim mentality, the doom and gloom, the whatever for years, because of something that, you know happened or in a situation or experience.
But there's always been what I've, I've, what, what I've witnessed in the, behind on the therapist couch and, and what I've witnessed as a coach, is that there's always something that tips it. There's something traumatic that happens. There's something that, that rocks your world to where it's like you can no longer be silent.
You can no longer be stuck in that place. It is requiring you to take action, and it's action in forward movement. That's always what I've seen. And, and so, yes, can we avoid, you know listening? 'Cause I feel like we're always offered up the little whisper. And if you're like me, you're like stubborn and hard-headed, and you're like "Oh my gosh, I don't listen to the whisper."
I'm like "Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah." Dismiss the whisper, and then you get a two-by-four, and even Teri, who's like "Oh my gosh," I ignored the two-by-four, okay? like I was like getting beat down, and I was like "All right. Whatever. Whoa, whoa." And then like it wasn't until I had a very traumatic car accident, gosh, 15 years ago, that was like "Wake up, Teri," you know?
And I was like it was so life-changing for me. And I was like "Okay, Teri, you've got to stop playing small." like it wasn't until I had like it could've been a very deadly, car accident. it was a three car pileup car. like it got, it was, it was, it was nasty. It was a nasty accident. And that was one of those moments where I was like "Okay, Teri.
Here we are." And that was such a chlife-changer, you know in my life of like "Okay, Teri, you are playing small. You need to stop. This is not serving anyone You actually leaned into your... Iis that the wthe defining moment that you talk about, that I've heard you talk about in the past? Oh, my goodness. I've had so many, like defining moments along my journey, and I've just been so grateful that, I've had, such angels on Earth guide me, you know.
From, you know my first defining moment was in ssixth grade. I had an experience, and then I just had multiple experiences throughout. And, but that, that was a big one. My dark night of the soul was another one of these moments in life that was just like defredefined who I was and redefined in different ways and really just transformed and it, it was, it is...
you know in some of those ways, it has been like these wake-up calls. It's like "Oh, okay. Here we are." Okay. Well, and that's, uh... Thank you for sharing that sthat with us because that's really what the show's about. I mean, powerful and unpolished. The unpolished aspect is, is life gets ugly and nasty and not, not so comfortable and joyful at times.
And yet, at the same time, we always have power. We always have... like one of the gifts that I love is when I'm working with somebody and having the ability to liberate them, to support them in their own liberation from their limitations, right? When they're stuck, when they're caught up in the pattern of what's familiar of old, you know.
'Cause wwe live in a world that conditions and programs us, and we, we, we have to adapt to that, and we do. But the problem is, is who are we beyond that? And that's what I'm hearing you say, is it's like you've been this ongoing expression and, and experience of, you know life at times hasn't always been perfect or fun or like this, but look where you are now.
Look where you've come to now. I mean, it's... There are times whereWith you. I mean, that's why we can sit down and have a glass of wine and be like "Let's talk about this experienceYeah, yeah. Yeah ... let's talk about that experience." 'Cause you, you have those dark nights that you're, like going, "Yeah," and, you know if I ststayed in that mindset or stayed in that experience, that would be miserable if I was like that for 10, 20, 30 years, right?
As opposed to three years or five years or ththree months. Let me ask you this. With your skill and ability and, and your broadness of, of expertise, because I love that you, your, your dynamic is intellectual as well as emotional intelligence, energetic aawareness. I mean, it's multifaceted, which, I love that.
That's 'cause I'm half ninja. Yeah. I'm just kidding. Well, that's like when we start talking about our other senses beyond our five senses, right? When we're talking about our intuition and, and that, right? But let, let's go back to the people who are listening and, and, you know kind of pondering what we're talking about.
When we talk about manifestation, what is a common mistake that you see that people make when they're trying to manifest their dreams? I think the biggest challenge is we get ourselves in our own way, and so what happens is we will play the stories and the scripts from previous. And so, you know I love the book Law of Attror, The Secret, and I think it's great.
However, I think one of the, the limitations that they don't necessarily address is they say, you know if we, if I just go and say these affirmations, which I'm not a big fan of affiraffirmations, and here's why. An affirmation, unless you believe it's true to your core, and if I say, "I am blank," if you believe it, so I am creative.
I believe that 1,000%. I am very creative, 1,000% I buy into that. You can say it all day long, okay? That's where an affirmation makes sense, okay? But if I am in a process of, you know exploring or expanding or repairing or whatever that situation is, and I don't believe it immediately right then, it is hard for me to say that and then to truly believe it, because what happens, the unconscious goes, "Teri, that's not true."
So my ... We have 30, we have 60 to, 50 to 60,000 thoughts a day, and only 2,000 of those are conscious. So we are fighting against ourselves. So if I say I'm a Godzillionaire and it's not true, right, the brain goes, "Oh, honey, you're not a Godzillionaire. Let me show you all the evidence that you're not a Godzillionaire," right?
And then I'm like "Oh yeah, right. You're right. You're right." And there's no matter ... There's no amount of, of, of affirmations that will ever, ever overdo the unconscious. So what I encourage people to do is say, you know let's play with generative questions. Generative questions allow us to help us find the evidence in a new reality, okay?
So if I'm not a Godzillionaire, okay, instead of saying, "I am a Godzillionaire," and the unconscious going, "That's not true, girl. That ... Girl, girl, that's not true. Have you seen your bank account? Yeah, it's not true." But what I can say then is say, "I wonder what it would take for me to become a godzillionaire. I wonder..."
And I, I'm using a godzillionaire as, you know but I, it let's say, you know my, you know my health, my weight, my, my relationships, my business, you know. if I ask a generative question, so it's like "I wonder blank," or, "Why is it so easy for me to blank?" So I wonder what it would take for me to have more clients.
I wonder what it would take for me to be healthy, happy, and vibrant. And so the brain goes, "I don't know." And I imagine in my little world, there's little minions fryou know in the brain, and the brains are like "Oh yeah, girl, I don't know. Let's go find out. Oh, we're going on adventure? Yes, let's do it."
Okay, so now it's like oh, you know why is it this way? you know why is it so easy for me to have this? And then like the brain goes, "Oh, let's find it." So now we are activating the reticular activation system, which is now saying, "Oh, let me show you." So then once we find a piece of evidence, it says, "Oh, here's this."
Oh my gosh, I get off this phone call, and Tim, it's the craziest thing. I just got amazing client, and I had an easy conversation. They closed immediately on the spot. Oh my gosh, that was easy. Of course. So now I've now activated the brain. I'm like "Oh, now when that happens, all you have to do is say these seven words: 'Thank you.
I'll take more of that.'" The brain goes, "Oh my gosh, this is so much fun. Let's find more evidence." So now I'm engaging in an upward spiral of my brain, and now we're taking that, and now we can leverage on that. Okay, cool. Let me ask another question. Let me find some more evidence. The brain goes, "girl, I'm with you.
I'm gI'm with you," right? And so we can continue building on that. So I always tell people the spiral down and the spiral up really is no different than what's happening in your brain. All... And it doesn't take much. It doesn't take years of therapy. It doesn't take endless amount. We can literally just make a choice.
We make 30,000 choices a day. and if you think about it, you probably make 5,000 just to get out of the door, meaning do I get up on my alarm clock? Do I snooze another time? Do I snooze another time? Do I take a shower? Do I not take a shower? Do I, do I put my hair up today? Do I not? Do I wear gym clothes?
Do I wear, you know fancy clothes? Do I wear this or I wear that? Da, da, da, da. Do I da, da, da? I mean, like do I take my lunch? Do I feat out for lunch? Do I... We make a thousand choices Very easily, right? And so now I get to make a choice. Am I going to be in the spiral down and I'm gonna dogo find the doom and gloom because your brain will support you?
Or do I make the choice of going, "you know what? Let me ask a different question, and let me activate that part of my brain." Again, we're activating somethe same parts of our brain are being activated. So it's either choosing to find the evidence or choosing to find the evidence over here, right? So I always tell people our brains are like the internal Google machine.
If I type in, now it's ChatGPT, if I type in, you know purple elephant, your brain immediately goes, "Oh, purple elephant." And guess what? If I type that into Google, I will find a purple elephant, okay? Whether it's real or doesn't matter, right? 'Cause the brain's like "I'm gonna go find it." So same thing with our brain is if I say whatever it is, I'm gonna find it.
I 1000% gonna find it. Your brain's gonna find it. So might as well if it's, if it's my opinion, might as well if we're gonna spend time and energy choosing, might as well choose the place in which we swant to speak life into more. You're gonna leverage the brain. And the problem that we have, going back to your question, is we have been ingrained and trained to believe we focus on the worst-case scenario.
We focus on the other situation versus taking and going into what we desire. I'll give this quick vquick example. Years ago, my daughter had a situation with the school. It was during the pandemic. And, I was proposing Plan A, okay? I went into the principal's office, and I said, "Hey, da, da, da, da, da, da."
And I looked at his board. He, he had a whiteboard. He had Plan A was one line, wwhich was the option. Plan B had eight different little, little ticks about, like you know the things, different things. And I left the meeting, and my, I told my daughter, I said, "That's not, it's not gonna happen." She's like "Did he tell you that?"
I said, "No, he did not." She's like "Well, then how do you know?" I said, "I saw his board." His board had one option for Plan A, eight for Plan B. He spent too much time in Plan B. It was the only way that was gonna happen was Plan B because he'd spent too much time. He had already started planning for it. Guess, guess what plan we ended up with Plan B.
And it was only because I saw his board, right? So we need to speak life into what we do desire. We spend so much time of the plan Bs and blCs and Ds that it's only going to happen because we've... So thoughts get created, what's in our mind and what's in physical reality. So where are we spending our time and energy and resources in what we're speaking life into?
So I would leave your listeners with this. What is it that you desire? Speak life into that. Do sdon't even have a plan B. I always tell people, "Do not have a plan B." Plan Bs will always win because we spend too much time planning and executing plan B versus plan A. Focus on plan A. And I will tell you, when you focus on plan A, it will come to fruition even if it seems out of the crazy question Well, and something that goes along with this, I wanna add to it though too, is it's, iespecially in our culture, it's, it's throughout the world, but I, especially in our culture, is, and I say this often, is that people will fight for their limitations before they stand up for their possibilities.
Yes. And that, that, what, what is that in the person? And it, what it is in the person is our egos are in such control of hus being in our pattern so that we're predictable, that we actually follow through on what our ego wants, which is based in the past. So we fight for our limitations. We fight for being right about how wrong things areMm-hmm
instead of leaning into what, what is really possible for us, what is, you know what is available. And, and, and it goes right along with what you're saying there. It's, it, I, I love that. I love that experience that you're talking about. And we're just activating the brain. like I love teaching people more about their brain and the, and the hacks that we can do for our brain to get it on track to leverage it, right?
And there's, it, and I always tell people, it doesn't take much, and if we just shift one little thing, it can, it can, that can be the piece that jumps us over to the spiral up. So you have, you have some of these, so I'm gonna add to this 'cause this is for you. This is yourYeah ... stuff here. What is one small but powerful daily ritual that you can instantly raiseOh, yeah
someone's vibration and attract more abundance? Yes. So one of the one, one of the fun tools I, I like to teach people is the 33 second exercise, and it's really getting in, acting as if it's already acha- achieved. So it looks kinda silly, but it's going into this higher vibration. So I want people to close their eyes and just imagine if, so just imagine that target being already done, completed.
Now you're on the other side and you're celebrating it. What would it feel like? What would it be like? The more you can stay in that higher vibration, the more you call it into, into your existence. And so acting as if, and yI tell people, set your timer for 33 seconds and act as if it's already been achieved.
And so, yes, I'm jumping around. I'm excited. I'm like 'cause if, you know if your favorite person, you know called you, if Dolly Parton calls me and goes, "Hey, girl, I know you've been wanting me to interview you," or, "You want, you've been wanting to interview me, and I am, girl, I'm gonna fly out to Colorado, and I'm gonna be in your live studio, and we're gonna..."
And I'm like "Girl!" I would be like I wouldn't be like "Oh my gosh, Dolly Parton just called me," and be like "Bull," right? I'd be like "Oh my gosh! Oh my God, Dolly Parton just called me. Holy buckets, let's go, let's go, let's go," right? I would be excited, right? So you hold that space for 33 seconds to activate that, right?
And then it's amazing to start to see... And I do this, once or twice a day, and then I will do it in, and if there's something that I would like to iincrease to manifest, I will do it more often. And it's just so much fun to like play in that place of... And you cannot not get excited. You cannot not get revved up.
like even that, for that few seconds I just did that, I can feel it in my body going, "Yes!" like oh my gosh, that's gonna happen. and at the same time, what happens, especially if you do this at home with your, with kids, with, pets, your pets especially, they are so excited and delighted for you. They'll like celebrate with you.
It's the coolest thing. like try it out. Notice, especially your dogs. Whoo. They're gonna be like "Girl, let's get it. Let's get it. Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go." like it's so fun. It's so fun. And, and so it's git's neat. The other thing that I would encourage people, to do is get into a daily, habit.
We have our daily intentions planners for, designed for this because it bind, it brains, it combines brain science with the universal laws of attraction into a daily habit. Now, I will tell people, I'm, I prefer to do my, quote, "morning routine At night. And why? Because the evening routine, in my opinion, is the most valuable because we activate the brain.
And so wI like to help people, send their night in gratitude, 'cause it's a high vibration, plan out their day the next day. Because once the last 45 minutes of your day gets processed by your brain seven times more than it does any other time of day. So fill that information up with yummy, juicy information.
Then once you've planned out your day, your minions have something to do, they have something to process, and it is pretty magical what happens when you've activated that because the people will call you and you're like "Oh my gosh, I was just... Tim, I was supposed to call you, and then you call me." And I'm like "Tim, I was just thinking about you."
Okay, well that's, we've been planting, we planted the seeds eight, nine hours ago, right? And now it's coming to fruition and it's, we can actually create that on demand when we start to activate and elevate the brain to support us in creating, you know again, thoughts are created in two ways. First, we have a ththe thought, and then in the physical reality, it gets created.
And so why not leverage it all day long? And it's super easy. Absolutely. And this is, this brings us back full circle to the beginning when we talked about everything in this universe is energy. Everything is this energy exchange, and it's like nothing amazes me more th- 'cause I don't believe in coincidences.
I mean, and people sit there and talk about their algorithms and the phones listen. you know I started talking about shoes, and I start getting ads for shoes, and it's like yeah, right. So, so your phone or your computer's listening to you, all right? Get over it. It, it's, it's what's happening, right? But the other thing too is the universe has always been listening to you.
100%. And we have a tendency to discredit because we say, "Oh, it's just coincidence." And it's like but what if, what if you actually had this power, this ability to create the way that you do? Exactly. Exactly. And we all have it, you know? It's not just given to some of us. Every single person on this planet was given this ability to create, and so why not?
It is your God-given right to think and have thoughts and create and co-create and, and, and be in alignment, right? And the more that you're in alignment, the more you're rewarded for that. And the more that you're in disalignment, the more you're rewarded for that. So again, if we are having this choice, where are we going to, where are we gonna spend our time and energy and resources?
'Cause I promise you, if you start spending your time on the other hon the other piece, you'll start receiving more and more evidence to support it because it's just, like it's, it's, it's universal law And the cool thing is, is that you don't even have to believe it for it to work, right? 'Cause it's universal.
like you know this is like quantum physics that, you know AAlbert Einstein talked about, you know eons ago, you know? So. Well, aand for some folks out there who are stuck in a darker spot, they, they may, you may, you may be manifesting deflecting your good. like you, you may want good things to happen, but are you, are you in the head space of, "Well, this won't happen," or, "This..."
Why, you know all the, the All the thoughts that don't support us, right? Yeah, and I'll be fairand I'll be in, in total fairness, you know I'm not gonna be jumping around if I'm in the, if I'm in the thick of it, right? And it's small incremental shifts that can support it, right? And so I don't ever wanna dismiss the trauma, the, the experiences that we're having and not, not saying that by all means.
I am saying like you know again, our brain will, our, our brain takes 90 seconds to actually do what it needs to do for any emotion. So after that 90 seconds, the brain has finished with that emotion, and now we can make peace with it. So sit in that. Sit in whatever... Feel the feelings that feel, those feelings, those emotions, those are our inour emour emotions are our internal guidance system.
That is valuable interinformation, so sit in it. If you're angry, sit in it. What is it's, what is this trying to show me, tell me? you know sit in it, get the awarenesses, get the gifts, get the resources, then say, "Okay, now I'm gonna go into action." action is the only thing that remedies fear, and so if we can go into a certain action, and that it, it can be such a small action.
One of the fastest ways to shift energy is through movement. Go out, take a walk, go do jumping jacks, go run in place. It doesn't matter. Doesn't matter the amountBe in action ... five, you know even like you know 30 seconds, 40 seconds of being in action, running in place, jumping jacks, like whatever. If I'm in a funk, you know you'll see me get up and shake it off.
I just shake my whole body. Shake, shake, shake, bounce. I bounce and shake, bounce and shake because it's shifting the energy, and it only takes a couple seconds. And so then now let's go into action, you know? So, oh my God, we can talk all day. I love this. Thank you so much. We could, we could actually talk for another hour if we had time, but what you're saying is, is so powerful.
