Entertainment That Actually Connects People with Jordan White

Good day, everyone. Welcome to Powerful and Unpolished. For those of you who are returning, welcome back to Powerful and Unpolished. We have a great new, uh, guest today. I'm actually excited. Uh, this is a gentleman I met a couple months ago and just really solid soul, so I was looking forward to having him on the show, and his name is Jordan White.

Jordan White owns a business called GATE, and we're gonna go into that, but welcome, Jordan. I wanna thank you for joining us today. Guys, I appreciate you having me here, Tim. For, for this, uh, since I've been looking forward to it for, uh, since we actually set it up. So Yeah. It's been a while. It's gonna be a fun one.

Nice. So a little bit about Jordan and his business. So, uh, Jordan's business is called GATE, G-A-T-E, and that stands for Games and Trivia Entertainment. Now, Jordan established this business in 2022. His goal was to bring people back together in live and in, uh, in-person entertainment. So, you know, for those of you who are listening to this, you know, 20, 30 years later, there was a pandemic

that was going on, and right in the heart of the pandemic, Jordan had this, this really insightful awareness. And, you know, it... COVID actually was the pandemic, and COVID taught us that it's possible to live and sometimes thrive in the digital world, right? Being able to order your food, order groceries, you know, do any kind of shopping that you, is interesting to you, find any kind of, well, almost any kind of entertainment.

Um, and all of a sudden, you know, you could do it from the comfort of your own home. Well, Jordan really had this awareness, and I, I, uh, this is what I love about your awareness, Jordan, is, uh, you realize that relationships and a sense of community was going to suffer. So thanks to a dream that you had and an opportunity, um, you set out to create a solution the world didn't know that it needed yet, right?

Yep, that's right. That's right. So, um, so yeah, like, like you just said, yeah, that, that was it. It was the, uh... I, I, I noticed it with my girlfriend because, um, uh, she was just ordering food, and it was just coming straight to the door, and I was just like, "We can go out to eat," but, like, like I, I understand 'cause you go out to eat now, you got to have that mask on.

You know, it just kinda made it more convenient, and, and it just clicked. I was like, everything can now just come to your door. Amazon's already been a thing. You could just order whatever you wanted to have ordered, and, and it was there, and now, now you had, uh, uh, the DoorDashers running around dropping off food at your door.

And, and I was just like, "Th- this is gonna suck," because, uh, 'cause now people are, are truly just working. Uh, it, you know, like, like right now, like, like where we're having this video conference, this wasn't a, a common thing . Like, like, you know, before, before COVID, you had to go in. You had to put on pants. You guys don't know if I got pants on right now.

Like, th- that's the fun part. Like, you... I got pants. I got pants. I promise. Oh, thank God. But yeah, no, it, it was just something that, that I, that I realized. I was like, all right, well, um, the one thing that people prioritize is entertainment. That's what they work for, that they work for family, and then they work for entertainment.

Uh, entertainment means different things. Sometimes it's traveling. Uh, sometimes it's going to concerts. Sometimes it's, uh, it's, it's definitely gonna be our streaming services, you know, like, like how we pass the time. And, uh, and I realized that that wasn't gonna go anywhere, and that was something that, that even though, uh, they, they started doing things digitally, like, uh, uh, the, the comedians, they started doing like, like Zoom or podcast, uh, shows just put out.

And I was like, that... it's different. It's, it, it's, it's not the same. You don't... You can't feed off the audience. You can't, you can't see what your art is actually doing and how you're touching people. And so, uh, so that, that was a big thing. I realized that that was gonna be something that was gonna be needed.

I was gonna say, it really opened up the door for... You know, everything has pros and cons. Everything has its, its benefits and detriments. And, um, there was an evolution that came out of it, and some people were geared up and ready for it and willing to be flexible and adaptable, and others just didn't like, "Don't mess with my rhythm.

Don't mess with my, you know, my vibe that's going on." And you could even say that today with what's going on in our world today. It's not just a, you know, a universal pandemic sort of thing. Before we kick this off, Jordan, I wanna, I wanna do one thing. Um, this is something that I do in a lot of my, uh, when I work with people and, you know, because of what you're talking about and how, you know, what we stand for at Insights for Choice, I really just wanna ground us out into what's one thing that you are grateful for, for your...

in your, in your life, in, in yourself, in, in anything that you appreciate? What's one thing that you truly honor? Uh, yeah, just the experiences, the relationships, everything that I've had, uh, it's created the, the thinking process that I have, my ability to adapt, my, um, my, my view and, and understanding of, of my place in the world.

So, uh, yeah, that, that wouldn't be possible if I haven't-- if I didn't, I wasn't raised right to understand that, that the... that also all the hardships that you go through is exactly what you're supposed to go through to become who you're supposed to be. So, uh, so yeah. And, and, and everybody says it now, like, like that's AI, that's a common, um, practice, but you really start to grasp it when you're in it, is that you're always exactly where you're supposed to be whenever, wherever, when, at any point in time.

I love that. Thank you for sharing that. That's, um... You're, you're, uh, we're in the same vibe, my friend, 'cause, uh, today the thing I'm gonna focus on gratitude and grateful for me is... And, and sometimes I've questioned it throughout my life, why do I see things in people differently? But it's when you have the ability...

I mean, for me, it's like when I, when I see people and you really get to embrace the essence of who they are, and you see their patterns that keep getting in their own way. I mean, that's something that I truly appreciate about why I, why I was gifted this, 'cause I'll tell you, it felt like a curse for a long time in life.

And it is a real gift, but just 'cause you see it in other people, you just don't go up and say, "Wait a minute. Quit stepping on yourself. Don't-- Get out of your own way." You know, that kind of thing. And we all do it, and it's so much easier to see it in other people than ourselves. But to be able to, to be that, that voice of striving for objectivity in empowering others, I'm grateful that that's part of my lesson on my path, right?

That you're talking about when these things come to you. That's, that's, that's awesome, man. And I'm grateful that, that you, that you are that, that for other people. Like, that, that's... When you, when you ha-have your purpose in life and you're really fulfilling it, it's a powerful thing. Oh, yeah. So yeah. Oh, yeah.

Thank-- Well, thank you. And, uh, that's why I was excited to have you on the show, 'cause just knowing... I'm gonna share this with the guests. The one thing that I loved about, uh, Jordan and his business, his company GATE, is not only the originality, even though he, he, he really... Well, I don't wanna go... I, I, I'm gonna let you tell us.

I, I... Before I go there, I want you to tell us, so what kind of services do you provide? 'Cause then I'll, I'll, I'll fluff 'em up after that. Go for it. Perfect. Perfect. Okay. All right. So, uh, so I provide two main services. Uh, number one is, is a game show Uh, entertainment, then number two is trivia entertainment.

Okay? Uh, game shows where, is where I'll bring out my buzzers. Um, they're-- I have a, a two different branches from game shows. It's gonna be our classic collection, which has like, um, remakes and adaptations to, uh, uh, familiar classics that you might know, like Family Feud, Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, and Password, except for I just kinda adjusted some of the gameplay so that it, it becomes like an, an original game.

And so, um, uh, so yeah, we have our classic collection, and then I have my Colorado game night collection, which is, uh, pretty much, uh, party games that, that we put people together with. So it's like, um, uh, you're racing against the other team to try to solve a puzzle, be it a word puzzle, a picture puzzle, um, working on your communication skills.

Um, you need to know how to listen to some of the games in order to solve the puzzle. It's, uh, it, it's, it's, it's a fun way that that kinda serves as like a backdoor into people's personalities, which is amazing, right? So, uh, so yeah, we have that for my game show products. Then for my trivia products, then it's like, like exactly what you would expect when you go to a bar or, like, a restaurant that has their weekly trivia.

Except for, for me, I try to do it, uh, I try to personally only host once a month. Um, I'm in the phase where, where I'll dive into it a little bit later, where I'm going to be able to start doing more weekly shows or bring in other people who can do weekly shows. But for me, um, uh, with our trivia, like you go to a bar, and it's like, okay, um, uh, we have our Tuesday night trivia.

I come there every Tuesday. I, I have my team of people that, that I normally do. I buy the food, buy the drinks, and I play this trivia game. Catch is, is that it's not interactive. It's not personal. It's, uh, it's you, you're there with your friends, and it's a small experience while you have this guy in the distance reading questions, and, and a lot of times he's not excited about it.

He's just like, like, "Okay, uh, well, uh, question one, how many planets are in our solar system?" And you know like that's it, right? So, uh, uh, and, and it's understandable, which I'll, I'll touch on that a little bit later because it's like, it's not his business. He didn't come up with the questions. He's just there trying to get a paycheck, you know?

So, so I get that. But, uh, yeah, with our, with our trivia game, it's more interactive. Number one, it can be like a point pool that you have to use, and, uh, and so based on your confidence, that's how many points that you can score. However, once you, once you choose one of the points, then it's gone, and you can't use it for the other rounds, right?

So it's, uh, so it, it-- there's a bit of strategy that you're playing, uh, with the other teams, and you know the category before you need to put out your points, so it's, it's a fun little, little adaptation But, uh, but that allows us to do a lot more people. And, and, uh, while I'm doing that, I'm hosting and I'm walking around, and I'm actually getting into your table.

And so I'm like, "Okay. Hey, you're, you're, you're doing well right now. You might have 18 points and everybody else only has 10. What's your secret? Is it Siri?" So, so I walk up to them and I, and I'll talk to them like that, and they're like, "Oh, no, uh, we just know this stuff. I used to be a teacher, I used to do this," or whatever.

So now the whole audience is now learning about this table, you see? And, and, and they don't even know it. I'm just having a conversation, but I'm on the mic, so everybody's all getting with it. And then so I'm like, "Okay. Hey, guys. So y'all know who to focus on right here, the teachers. This is team teachers' public enemy number one."

And then so now I walk around, I go to other people, and now, so now it just expanded effortlessly from one, your team of, of four or five people that you play with every week to now the other table over here also comes every week. They're like, "Oh, it's you guys again. This time I'm gonna get you." And so now you just in-increased your friend pool effortlessly.

So that's one thing I wanted to jump off on here that I really appreciate is, um, and I'm glad you shared it, is there's a lot of structure that, that Jordan just shared with you, but you get so much more, um, with Jordan because he actually brings his gift to the process. It's not just sit down and do this conversation.

I mean, it's like, it's a whole event. It's a whole show. It's like you, you know, you know your entertainment, right? Yeah. I mean, I mean, I hope. Yeah. You're, you're the capital E on, on the re- you know, the rest of it is- ... has games and it has trivia, but you're the entertainment 'cause- That's right. And that makes a huge deal.

I mean, I have to say, we went to a, a kind of a themed 40th birthday party- Hmm. Okay ... um, about three or four weeks ago. And I have to say, having someone in the room engage with the crowd, engage with... I mean, it was, you know, you've, we've all been to weddings or parties or whatever, and you have music there, and you have people, and they have personalities and stuff like this.

But to have somebody who truly brings a presence, that's a big deal. And that was, that was part of that, that birthday party we went to three weeks ago, and that was my experience of, of being able to, um- You learn about what you do and as you, as you do it, as you present it. 'Cause even when you were talking about your Colorado games, your Colorado, right, I was, I was thinking, "Wow, this could totally be something that you do for team building or part of a team-building event."

You know? Maybe, maybe it's not the whole event, but maybe it's a day or part of a day where you actually bring people in and, you know, it changes up the energy of the team building. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That's exactly what it is. A- as you said, Colorado game night, that's what it is. Um, uh, I, I work, I work, uh, uh, corporate events consistently, um, private parties where I'll go to your house, uh, special events like the 40th, uh, uh, event that you had there, like, like, that's exactly what I would do.

And yeah, it, it, it, it brings these people from different walks of life together because it's... like, like, you don't know what this person knows. Like, that they could be an anime geek or they could be a, uh, an, an engineer, you know? You just don't know. But I, but I have something for everybody, and so they're like...

like, like, they, they could be all reserved until that question comes up, and they're like, "Oh, I know that one. I know that one." Like, they just jump in and, and they, and they take over the group, which is so uncharacteristic of them normally, because they, they might be sitting back all the time. But they, they were confident.

They knew, and that confidence just comes out. You get to see a different side of people that's... So yeah, exactly right. As, as people know who listen to these shows, I love what you do professionally. I love what the energy and vibe that you bring to it. My question is, is how the heck did you get here? Ah. I mean, who's, who- It's a journey

who's the re- It's a journey ... who's the, who's the, who's the little, the little boy who was, uh, uh... You know, tell, tell us. Tell us some of the insights that you gained along the way, I mean, to, to put positivity out into the world and bring people together. For sure. All right. Well, um, I like to say that the, that the, the brightest lights in the world come from the darkest places.

Um, and, and so, uh, so without diving too deep into my, into my previous histories and things that I got into, uh, pretty much I, I was loved. I, I, I had a, had a great family life. I had a great childhood. Um, I was always playing, um, from sports to board games to video games. Like, like, play was just exactly what, what, what it should be.

I had a very healthy childhood. Um, and then, and then of course you go into your, your pre-teen and your, your, uh, your high school. Um- Your hell years, right? Yeah. Yeah, you go, you go into those years where you, where you start to try to, try to fit in places with different crowds. Uh, you try to get respect, um, uh, sometimes in the wrong ways.

Um, and so, so that, that, that kinda led to me associating with some different people. Um, and, and At the time, you know, that, that was the vibe. Like, like you, like you- when you, when you live i-in, in a, in your neighborhood, you rep your ne- you represent your neighborhood. You represent your people that you're with.

Uh, you, you, you get into trouble, um, because it's, it's a... It builds cred with the, with the people that you're around, you know? And, uh, and yeah. So I mean, I, I, I did have some, I did have some, uh, some things that I got into that I'm not super proud of. But at the same time, I, I, I can't say that I would change it, because those experiences gave me an appreciation for life.

It gave me an appreciation for, uh, for, for why, why, why we put certain things on a pedestal. And, uh, and yeah. So because of, because of that, and I was, I was lucky enough to, to realize it before it led to something bigg- or, uh, deeper that I could've went into, right? So, uh, uh, what I ended up doing was I, was I flipped the script a little bit.

Uh, so I was always, always big into, uh, playing sports, basketball. My dad played basketball in the military. Um, my older brother, he was very, very good at basketball, uh, so I idolized him. And, and I was like, yeah, you know, from, from like a young little kid, I was like, "That's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna be a professional basketball player, period."

But... And then everybody would always tell me, "Okay, Jordan, that's cool. What's plan B?" Less, less of support, right? Right, right, exactly. You know, "What's plan B?" You always have to have a plan B. And I was like, "No." Like, like I, like I've always been very... Like, like I just see the world differently. Um, it's, it's a level of stubbornness.

What my parents always always told me, they said I was just hard-headed. But the truth was is that when, when I feel like I really know something, and somebody's telling me something different, I get a, a feeling in my stomach. It's like, it's like it's going against my soul. It's, it's like, ah, incorrect.

Incorrect. Does not compute. So, so- You're a method brother. Right. You are. Yeah. So it... I don't know. It- it's, it, it's just, maybe it's just, uh, just how I was made, you know? Uh, my, my God-given gift right there. And, and, and a lot of people fight against that or, or they, or they, they, they snuff it out. But for me, I j- I let it guide me.

So, um, I was able to, to, from my, my rough times, my upbringing times, I ended up, um, uh, changing. Instead of me, uh, doing things that, that I was doing, and again, not incriminating myself at all, but instead of doing things that I was doing to make money for myself, I ended up using that to, uh, fund my way to college.

So I had I had, uh, uh, pay half or I had a, a partial ride for basketball And so, uh, so I ended up making it to a junior college, and then from there I made it to a D2, and then from there I had a tryout in Italy where I made the team, uh, played for EA7 for a little while, which was all pretty, pretty cool.

So I, I, um, I, I achieved my dream, my dream of, of becoming a professional basketball player, being paid to play the sport that I loved despite everybody else saying, "Hey, have a plan B. Have a plan B because, you know, just in case. You're good, yeah, you're good, but just in case, have something else. You know, use your brain," right?

So, so, uh, yeah. So led, led to, uh, out there where I did, uh, professional basketball and then, uh, and then being part of the, the basketball clubs out there and, uh, and overseas. It's a different vibe than it is here because, uh, those basketball clubs are owned by somebody who's normally doing a lot of other things.

So ours wa-was, uh, it was, uh, Armani who ra-ran our club. So, uh, we had to go to, like, events. Uh, we had to, we had had to, had to kind of represent as well because we were essentially his team, so he's like, "Hey, you know, Brett, you know, show up." So, uh, by being in a lot of, uh, photoshoots and things, that got me into modeling, so I went on to do some modeling for a while.

So, uh, uh, I ended up hurting myself in, uh, in basketball, so I, I bought my way out of my contract and, uh, and came back to the States because at the time I thought that was the type of modeling I wanted to do. I was like, "I wanna do high fashion. I'm gonna go to New York. I wanna I wanna, uh, uh, move in-into that world."

And then, uh, after I got here, shot around to a couple different agencies in, uh, here in Colorado, then California, then, um, uh, when I was on the way to New York they were like, "Well, you know, you, you... Like, everybody in New York is striving to go to Milan." And I was like, "I was just there. I didn't know." Had I known that, I could've bypassed all of that.

So, so they were like, "Yeah, if you wanna do that, you have to, you have to build up your portfolio in th-in this fashion." So, uh, so they, they tried to get me to shoot with some different photographers, um, and those photographers, like, like I just didn't agree with the, with the people that they wanted me to shoot with because their style of work or their, or their portfolio, it just didn't look right.

So I was like, "I-I'll learn to do photography myself." So I ended up learning, uh, photography, graphic design, uh, how to edit shots, things like that, and, uh, and then that led, because my dad was now doing photography as well, so he had his company and me learning everything, we just kind of merged together, and so I, I ended up being the, uh, main photographer and graphic designer for 3D by Mike for, uh, for, uh, what was it?

Since twenty- 2012 might've been, 2013, 2013 all the way up until I ran it till 2022. And I actually got into being the main photographer around 2017. And then that was the final thing. It was like COVID hit. It made it so people weren't playing these games in person or they weren't allowing audiences and things like that for a while.

And then even when they did play, they still had them wear their masks. So it made me getting action shots really tough because they had a big mask on their face, right? So I focused on trying to do as many action shots as I could during that time. But it wasn't Like everybody, it just wasn't paying like I was supposed to pay.

So that kind of moved me into working with a trivia company for a little while as they were doing their revamp when the restaurant started opening back again. And so they're like, hey, let's get back to trivia. We're going to hire you on. And so I joined on with them, kind of learned the basics of it. And then I was like, you know what, if I ever decide to do something, I might do this, like something along these lines.

And if I did, I had a dream and it came in. I would name it GATE and stand for Games and Trivia Entertainment. And that's where the dream kind of hit, bam. And then the opportunity from no money from photography gave me time. Combining together, I started building some games for myself and the rest is history.

You know, that's why I like doing this show and actually having people tell, you know, we go into networking events or we have our own business. And I mean, it's our livelihood. We want to find our audience no matter where they are, right? And it's just amazing to witness the life you shared. I mean, if I just sat here and talked to you about your business, we would have never known that you played on Armani's team over in, you know, and that you were a basketball professional.

And I mean, a little bit might come out here, a little bit might come out there, but it's like to truly learn about someone. And the other aspect is, you know, you just shared sort of the consummate human experience. I was doing this. I was going this direction. It wasn't in my best interest. You know, and there are some people who don't have the wherewithal.

Like when they are in the darkness, they just keep justifying and validating why to stay in the darkness, right? Yes. Yes. And there's so many others who actually can sit there and go, I can do this, but one, it doesn't honor or serve me or anybody else, or it honors or suits whoever wants to keep me in that position, right?

Because there's people that will influence us to stay broken, right? Because they benefit from brokenness or the darkness, right? And then, um, but when we value, when we have that little bit of light inside of us where we sit there and we go, "Wait a minute, I want something more," you have a growth spurt, you change directions, you do an adjustment.

You know, nowadays it's all the let's, let's do the, the common vene- we pivot, we, you know, uh, all the- I'm, I'm gonna have fun with... It's time for me to pivot. I had to pivot. It's like, welcome to life, you know? Right. Li-life is full of pivoting. I mean, I, you know, I, I'm a trainer. I'm a coach. I'm... You know, we all are.

Anybody who's doing any sort of growth process has someone along the way, maybe professionally or not professionally, but who influences and guides them. So coaching is all... Coaching's been part of it since we started rolling rocks up and down hills, you know, for whatever purpose we were doing. Y-you know, uh, if it was, you know, hauling grain to go build crops or, you know, plant crops or whatever.

And so the fact is, is you had so many... You know, I j- I just really appreciate your story 'cause you have so many pivots in there, and you have so many adjustments in there. But isn't that life? And when you stand in your value, 'cause when you stood in your value of being a basketball player and everyone wanted you to have your plan B, yeah, that was their sign of love, have your plan B, but it was also one of those things where it was like, if it is to be, it's up to me, right?

It was gonna be up to you whether it was gonna be plan A or plan B. And you did it. You did it. Thank you. Thank you, man. That, that's, that's real. That, that, that's, that's how I took it too is, um, it was love, as you just said. It was them trying to say that, that, uh, yeah, "Hey, Jordan, you're, you're doing great.

We believe in you, but just in case, I w- I don't wanna, I don't wanna see you hurt, I don't wanna see you crushed, I don't wanna see, uh, because this didn't go this way, what happened." And at the time, I just saw it as, uh, as, as them, as another obstacle, as a, as a, as a hater, you know? It is. And, and yeah. And, and it's like for me, a, a lot of people that they either, they either get crushed by the haters or they use those haters as fuel.

And, and I use them as fuel because, um, uh, while I was in college, there's a saying that sticks with me. Uh, I saw that in, in one of our, uh, away game locker rooms. And, uh, it was a saying that says, "It's not the push from behind and it's not the pull from the front, but it's the drive from within." And, uh, and so I was like, you know what?

That's powerful. So I, I use everybody's doubts, everybody else's, um, uh, opinions, positive or negative, and I turn that into fuel for this engine that I, that I am. And it... With, uh, with that being... But like that, those morals, those experiences have brought, I've brought those with me throughout my whole life.

And so as you said, everybody, everybody's a coach. Everybody is a teacher. Everybody has a teacher. Everybody has a coach, you know, like, like it's... And, and whether you know it or not, I, I just, I just try to take my experiences and, and, and that positivity and that way of like, hey, life is going to make you pivot.

It's going to make you... That's the only thing that you, that you for sure have control over is how you react to the uncertain changes that are constantly gonna come. That's the only thing that you can control. When life throws a left at you, do you dodge? Do you duck? Do you, do you, do you take it to the face?

What do you, what do you do? Like, like, that's the only thing that, that you have control over. And, uh, and, and I, I just hope that, that when people see this, that, that, that opens up their path a little bit, opens up their mind, and lets them know that yes, that is... that's exactly right. Life is supposed to throw you changes.

I'm supposed to, I'm supposed to do that because that's what encourages growth. You know, like you said, it's the haters, right? So... But I think sometimes, you know, it's, it's also what you said, you called it love. When I, when I had made the comment, you said, "Yeah, it's really this love." And it's like sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

Sometimes it's just realizing that people are giving you their plan B, not yours, right? It's like they're insecure with who you are showing up to be, and they value you or they don't value you, either way. I mean, 'cause you'll have some people who truly value you, and they wanna keep you safe, and unfortunately they don't realize they might keep you suppressed.

Yeah. Right? And that's not their intention. But it's, it's really kind of, you know, who are, who are you to be this great? You know, it's, it kind of goes back to, um, Marianne Williamson's, uh, statement or, or presentation that, that Mandela said during his inauguration speech. You know, who are you to shine your light?

Who are you to be so great? Well, who are you not to be? Who are you not to be this person? You know, you, you standing up for yourself, just, just that presence will liberate some others who actually witness it and see it. And so it's that, it's that aspect of just having, having the, the, your, your humanness, having you share the gift that you've shared so far on this, this podcast is just, it's a gift.

To gi- You know, I'm glad you're on my show. But, but I... You know, it, it's truly a gift not only to me, but to anybody who has the opportunity to listen. That's why I do this show. That's why w- you know, we do the coaching and the training and everything that we do, which is are you in your essence of, of love and power?

Because when we have the, that darkness, I mean, I don't know about you, and I, my gut sort of says you understand this. I love the darkness I was really good at the darkness. I could get even- Yep ... w- even darker if I need, you know. And it's like, you know, I don't go to this, oh, the morals, the good, the bad. It was like, well, no.

I mean, you know, once you've walked through real hell, you really kinda understand. It's like going, hey, it, it, it, it sucks and it can be addictive. And the other thing too is it can also show you your value of what you need to fight for. Yes. Yes, yes, yes, exactly. That, that's, that's, that's powerful what you just said.

And for the listeners who if you guys didn't catch that, you know, if you didn't, if you didn't catch the undertones of what he's saying is, uh, is he loved that darkness. That darkness that we all go through, it shapes us. That's, that's it. So learn to love that. Love, love the adversity because, uh, just like, just like the podcast, man, like this...

That's what pol- that's what polishes us. That's what polishes us into these diamonds that we're supposed to be. A diamond doesn't start off as a diamond. It has to go through a lot of vigorous, aggressive - Pressure ... a lot of pressure. A lot of... That's the... And it starts in the darkest of the areas because that's where the pressure is the greatest, you know?

Yeah. And, and so yeah, if you're, if you feel like you're going through a hard time, it's, it's gonna be impossible for you to see it at the moment, but I hope that this podcast finds you at that point because it's, uh, it, it's gonna let you know that, yes, the darker it is, the more, the more shiny you're gonna be when you come out.

And, and yeah, that, and that's, that's just the real... That's the real. Um, another phrase that, that they like to say is God never gives you more than you can handle, and that, that's the truth. If you, if you're going through the, the toughest time in life, that just means that you're the strongest person in the world.

See it like that. So Well, and, a- and I love that you brought that up 'cause it's like sometimes the reason why we're going through the toughest time, and I am so guilty of this, even recently, even with all the, the wisdom and awareness that I have been working towards my whole life. Even recently of going through this darkness at times.

And what a lot of people I don't think realize is sometimes the reason why the struggle or the pain is so challenging and so hard is oftentimes because of how hard we're hanging on to what we think. Like, we're so attached to what we think it should be or how it should be or how we want it to be or, you know.

And it's like learn to let go. Yeah. So what, you know... 'Cause it, your, your growth is there, but sometimes the growth is letting go, not fighting harder, not hanging on harder 'cause it's just gonna make, it's gonna make the struggle, it's gonna make the pain, it's gonna make the, the adversity that much more challenging.

That's, that's another powerful one. That's another powerful one. Let, let me elaborate on that. Let me offer another option on, on exactly what you just said there, too. Is, um, is, well, as he was saying that, uh, immediately I thought of, of, okay, so a fist coming at, at a boxer, right? So it comes at you, bam, you feel the impact, okay?

The harder you push back to be like, "I'm not going nowhere," ... that's what, that's you holding onto, onto your beliefs of what's going on. Life is supposed to throw these jabs at you. So instead of you always trying to hold your ground, let it slide off of you. You see what I'm saying? Like, like pivot, rotate, adapt.

That's b- be like water, my friend. Yeah. Man, the wisdom's there no matter what, right? That's it. That's wisdom. That's it. That's it. So yeah, that, that... Y- you're exactly right, man. Yeah, a lot of people, they make things harder because they, they, they keep trying to hold on. Yeah. Absolutely, man. And you got some good insight.

Got some good insights, yeah, look at you. Okay. My friend, you know, it's what we do. It's who we are. That's why I was looking forward to having you on the show, 'cause I was like, "Oh, we're g- we're gonna have fun with this one." Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And, you know, we could actually talk for hours. I know that we could.

Um, unfortunately, our, our listeners would probably get bored w- if we go too long. You know, like- ... ev- everything has its time, right? So I wanna, I wanna bring it back to your company, 'cause I wanna make sure that we're honoring the gift that your company has for, for people who may be listening or, or just the awareness of who you are.

Being able to bring games and trivia and connection and community, what is it, uh... What do you think is... I don't know how to ask this. I'm just gonna say, because of what you do brings such community, what is it in the essence of it that really sparks you, that drives you, that is your heart, the soul behind this?

Yeah. For s- No, that, that's a, that's a great question. That's a great question. Uh, because again, what I do is not, is not really impossible for anybody else to do. I research some questions and I ask them to you. That's it. That's, that's the game of it, right? I, uh, uh, it's just that in order... I, I just gamify that somehow, right?

So anybody could do it, but it's, it's, it's something else that, that, that, that, as you said, that, that's, that soul that, that, that something that, that brings it in. I think that it's the authentic connection. I love learning about people. I love, uh, learning life experiences through other people's, uh, experiences, you know?

And, uh, and I get to see that on such a unpolished look for gifts, right? Uh, uh, it's, it's so raw because, 'cause, uh, 'cause people hide behind- This wall of like, this is who I'm supposed to be, this character, that this is, this is what the world sees me as. This is who I'm supposed to be at work. You know, like, like you're not supposed to know exactly who I am.

And when you're having fun, that is the purest form of you because everybody's here to do things that, that they enjoy. And so to see, see that, that, that light that comes out in people's faces when they're laughing, when they're having a great time, that energizes me. Like like, like because, because I, I know that number one, I facilitated that, and number two, your light that you're showing when you're, when you're truly happy, it's warming, it's radiant, and other people get to feel that.

And so now you get to share your gift that you didn't even know you had by simply smiling, laughing, and having a good time and being who you really are. And, and to, to give people the okay to do that, that's powerful. That's powerful to me. That, that, that's, that's the most authentic connection that I have, and I feel like that's really what I'm here for, to do, is to, is to be au- the most authentic person of, of, that I can be.

The f- the truest version of Jordan as possible because that gives everybody else the okay to be the most authentic person that they can be. Nice. Nice. Um, so I wanna make sure that we sort of stimulate some of our listeners' brains here. Um, so what are, what are some areas, arenas, I mean, team... We talked about team building, so do you do corporate events?

Do you do corporate team building events? Do you do, you know, birthday party? I mean, g- throw out some of the things so that people can really get an idea and say, "Oh, I, I should have my cousin call you," or whatever. Gotcha. Yep. Yep. So, uh, so I do. I, I bring the entertainment to you directly wherever you're at.

So be it your house, I'll come straight to your living room. I'll turn your living room into our game show experience, where I hook up to your TV. I'll bring out buzzers. I, I separate your couches into teams where somehow you are, you're in the comfort of your own home, enjoying your food, your drinks, your family, your friends, but you have a live host there facilitating The gameplay.

Uh, so, so start off with house parties, but then from there then I'll, I'll... If, if you wanna have an event coming up, um, let's, let's just say a, a, a graduation, a, a, a anniversary that you wanna celebrate, a wedding. I'll do wedding receptions. Um, uh, if you rent out a restaurant, uh, if you re- go to a park, we'll I'll do a, a, I can do family, um, uh, field day events outside.

Like, any level of competition, anything that, that brings fun and where one team is competing against another team, I, I can facilitate that. Um, I even do MC work. Um, uh, so like, uh, corporate events if you have, if you have somebody who, who you need to bring some energy to an awards ceremony, something like that.

I'm about to do, uh, one for the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. Um, so yeah, it, it... Anything that you can think of where you have people and you want them to interact, that's where I, that's where I bring in games. So, so literally anything. If you're like, "Hey, we're going on a ski trip. We're, we're gonna rent an Airbnb for, for a weekend, and I don't wanna just try to find things.

I want you to come to the Airbnb," I'll be there. You see what I'm saying? Like, like, like yeah, anything where you have people coming together to... and you want something fun to do, I can facilitate that in the form of a game show, in the form of a trivia party. I can bring, I'll bring out karaoke. I'll turn karaoke into a competition.

Um. Like yeah, anything that, that, that you're thinking of. Uh, but, but, but my bread and butter is gonna be a lot of corporate events, uh, and house parties, because that, tho- those are the times when you have the people that you, that you're with the whole time. Uh, you're either at work all the time, or you're, or you're with the people that you love all the time.

So if, that's how I put it together. So if they go to your, your website, what is it? Www, like gamesandtrivia.fun. That's correct. That's correct. Gamesandtrivia.fun. Ha ha. So if they go there, they, they can get more information on like packages or at least starter packages. You know what I mean? You can customize anything, but you know, s- at least, uh, I know a lot of people are like me, it's like I wanna be like, "Is this in the ballpark of what I'm thinking?"

Or, you know, that kinda thing. So they can get that info there. 100%. Correct. 100%. I try to make it affordable, so I have a package for anybody. So uh, uh, my game show stuff, currently that, that's priced, at the time of recording, is priced at $32 per person. So if you're like, "Okay, I have 10 people," $320, right?

Um, if, if you're like, "I got 100 people," eh, that might be out your budget. That's okay. That's when we come in with trivia, where that can include those 100 people still, but it's a more affordable option. And so yeah, yeah, uh, affordability means something different to everybody because we, we come from different walks of life.

So one of my pillars was affordability for all walks of life I try to include everybody so that... So yeah, if you have, if you have a budget of, uh, of $100, right? I can make something happen. It's just we ain't gonna have as many people. We might not have as many colors. But hey, we'll, we'll meet up at a restaurant, you know.

We'll, we'll play a card game, you know what I mean? Like Well, I- I'll make it work.

I was gonna say, you never know what that might evolve into too. I mean, you know. Exactly. Exactly. It's like going... 'Cause I'll tell you, some of the, some of the things that you think are wasted time, energy, and stuff like this, then they turn into something and you're like, "Oh, wow, didn't realize that that was there."

That's it. That's it. And that, that's being open. That's being open to pivoting. Being o- being open to pivots. Well, and since you're the basketball pro I didn't realize you- Pivot on our left. We'll pivot on our right. Yeah, that's Yeah. I didn't realize we'd be, like, talking, you know. 'Cause that, that's the first place I ever heard it as a little kid, was you pivot when you play basketball.

Agreed. Agreed. Triple threat. I just love how the corporate world in the last 20, 30 years has really taken on the, the sports vernacular, you know? And it's like w- everybody's a coach, and everybody's this, and it's, like, going... And there's some damn good coaches out there, and there are some other ones that, you know, send you to damn good coaches, so.

That's it. That's it. That's it. We'll just leave it at that. There you go. But, but whatever. Make sure, you know, for anybody that's listening, you know, Jordan i- is just as genuine. I mean, having met him in person and then done this call and, and had interactions with him, he's just a solid soul. And so- Thanks, man

if this is something... Yeah. If this is something that will, um, help your personal world, your entertainment world, your, your connecting with family, your... I mean, h- hey, family reunions. You could do family reunions, you know? There's virtually anything you can do to build more community, build more connection within your, your desired community.

So thank you, Jordan, very much for being here today. Um, we may- Thanks for having me ... have you back. I mean, like I said, we could talk for hours, 'cause I know your philosophies and mine go pretty deep, so. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You guys gotta tune in for episode two for that one, okay? Yeah. Yeah. That'll be episode two.

The deep dive. The deep, deep dive, right? Yeah. If you get a chance, go check out Jordan's, uh, website, www.gamesandtrivia.fun And it's all spelled out. And, um, thank you so much, Jordan, for being here today. For those of you who are listening, we really truly hope that you benefited, got some own personal insight from this discussion.

Um, there's a lot of heart and soul in what we bring here, and that's what we're about. We're about growing. We're in a ti-time that's very challenging, and it seems like all times are challenging, but for us, we're present. It's what's going through us right now. And so we really wish each and every one of you the opportunity to just be, be within your essence, be within your soul, be within your purpose, um, and know that you're not alone.

And so we really do wish you all the best. I wanna thank Jordan one more time for being on the show, and, um, I actually would love to have him back on the show, so we may have him back on again. So- That's it. All right. That's it. Um, until next time, you guys take care of yourself, ground yourself in gratitude on a daily basis.

Make sure that you are bringing in the positivity. It's up to you to open and focus on it. And until next time, we wish you all the best. Yes. Thank you, Tim. Thank you for joining us today.
